Chartered Professional Engineer
Tony immigrated to New Zealand from Ireland in 2002 and prior to forming OBD Consultants Limited he carried out civil and structural design and project management services for a wide range of reputable firms throughout the world. Tony graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1993 and started his career in the field of engineering in 1994.
Tony leads the OBD team to ensure high quality and efficiency in our outputs are maintained while inputting in high risk projects as and where needed.
When not in the office Tony loves spending time with his family and friends, playing guitar in the local band, developing his Aikido skills and cycling the back hills of Makarau.
Chartered Professional Engineer
Julie graduated from Auckland University in 2006 and gained chartership in structural engineering in 2013. Julie is an OBD team leader with 10 years design consultancy experience in NZ and the Pacific region specialising in architecturally designed structures. Julie enjoys using her effective liaison skills with a multitude of consultants needed to coordinate structural engineering deliverables with other relevant disciplines and ensure projects are on time and within budget.
Before joining OBD she worked on multiple complex projects being responsible for overseeing the coordination of the design process for the detailed design of buildings, project liaison and construction observation.
As OBD’s team leader she makes sure our work is of a quality standard, completed with high efficiency while supporting every member of the team.
As well as being a dedicated team leader, she also loves to spend time with her family and friends and explore the local parks and beaches.
David (Wei) Chen
David graduated from Auckland University in 2011 in Civil and Environmental Engineering and is a graduate member of the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand.
David has been with the company since December 2013 and before joining he gained experience in civil engineering, working predominantly as a structural engineer for NZ consultancies.
He has gained local experience in structural design and construction of simple to complex residential, light commercial & industrial projects in NZ and Australia. David spent several months in Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake conducting geotechnical investigations and specialises in seismic and wind stability design and detailing using a variety of materials.
When he is not working, David likes to go fishing with friends and spending time with his family.
Graduate Structural Engineer
Tanweer is a graduate member of our team who obtained his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from The University of Auckland in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2016.
Tanweer has developed quickly since joining OBD in March 2016 and has gained local experience in the design of residential projects from complex racking racking design and construction monitoring to foundation and superstructure design and documentation using current NZ standards. Apart from residential projects, he is also involved with carrying out seismic restraint designs of mechanical services and design of commercial racking requiring non-linear seismic analysis.
In his free time, Tanweer likes to go hiking, swimming and playing touch rugby. Tanweer follows rugby sevens especially and is a great supporter of the Fijian rugby team. He also has been our Foosball Champion for the past 6 months.
BIM Structural Drafter
John graduated from Auckland Unitec in 2016 with a Diploma in Engineering (Civil) and specialises in BIM design using 3D Revit and AutoCad.
John is a valuable team member who manages OBD's drawing department providing the necessary formal drafting support to our engineers. He has joined us at the end of 2016 after working with a large reputable firm (Becca) for 2 years while he studied and gained invaluable industry experience working on various complex structures. John also liaises with architects to coordinate 3D modelling issues between the disciplines.
John enjoys going to the beach with his wife and young son who keeps him busy and he makes the most out of New Zealand's outdoors by going spear fishing and free-diving during weekends.
Originally from the Waikato Karen's family moved to the Hibiscus
Coast 40+ years ago, when her parents bought a local business.
Karen specializes in general administration for small businesses and has a previous experience working several years in a Mechanical Workshop office and also for a local Kitchen Manufacturer.
She provides administrative support for the in-house engineers at OBD consultants, and she was the original Foosball Champion!
Karen spends most her time when not working, in a voluntary position wet crew of Hibiscus Coastguards two rescue vessels.
As well as rowdy dinners and trivial pursuit evenings with family and friends, she enjoys reading, boating, fishing and tramping
Amisha has a background of administration within corporate and large charity organisations both in New Zealand and Ireland.
Amisha takes care of the accounts and payroll for OBD and whilst juggling a young family with their sports and activities, taking an active part in the local community, and working within the business part time, Amisha still finds time to spend in their extensive garden.
