Chartered Professional Engineer
Tony immigrated to New Zealand from Ireland in 2002 and prior to forming OBD Consultants Limited he carried out civil and structural design and project management services for a wide range of reputable firms throughout the world. Tony graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1993 and started his career in the field of engineering in 1994.
Tony leads the OBD team to ensure high quality and efficiency in our outputs are maintained while inputting in high risk projects as and where needed.
When not in the office Tony loves spending time with his family and friends, playing guitar in the local band, developing his Aikido skills and cycling the back hills of Makarau.
Chartered Professional Engineer
Julie graduated from Auckland University in 2006 and gained chartership in structural engineering in 2013. Julie is an OBD team leader with 10 years design consultancy experience in NZ and the Pacific region specialising in architecturally designed structures. Julie enjoys using her effective liaison skills with a multitude of consultants needed to coordinate structural engineering deliverables with other relevant disciplines and ensure projects are on time and within budget.
Before joining OBD she worked on multiple complex projects being responsible for overseeing the coordination of the design process for the detailed design of buildings, project liaison and construction observation.
As OBD’s team leader she makes sure our work is of a quality standard, completed with high efficiency while supporting every member of the team.
As well as being a dedicated team leader, she also loves to spend time with her family and friends and explore the local parks and beaches.
Tanweer obtained his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from The University of Auckland in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2016.
Tanweer has developed quickly since joining OBD in March 2016 and has gained local experience in the design of residential projects from complex racking racking design and construction monitoring to foundation and superstructure design and documentation using current NZ standards. Apart from residential projects, he is also involved with carrying out seismic restraint designs of mechanical services and design of commercial racking requiring non-linear seismic analysis.
In his free time, Tanweer likes to go hiking, swimming and playing touch rugby. Tanweer follows rugby sevens especially and is a great supporter of the Fijian rugby team.
Shawn (Jiangshan) Li
Shawn obtained his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland in 2017 and then joined our team.
Prior to that, Shawn had two years work experience at the East China Urban Architecture Design & Research Institute, after graduating from Tongji University in Shangai. Since joining OBD, he gained a great deal of local experience in residential structure design, seismic restraint design and scaffolding design. He is also involved in construction monitoring and seismic assessment tasks.
Shawn likes playing tennis and swimming. He enjoys spending time exploring every inch of New Zealand and there are only two cities he hasn't been to...so far!
BIM Structural Drafter
John graduated from Auckland Unitec in 2016 with a Diploma in Engineering (Civil) and specialises in BIM design using 3D Revit and AutoCad.
John is a valuable team member who manages OBD's drawing department providing the necessary formal drafting support to our engineers. He has joined us at the end of 2016 after working with a large reputable firm (Becca) for 2 years while he studied and gained invaluable industry experience working on various complex structures. John also liaises with architects to coordinate 3D modelling issues between the disciplines.
John enjoys going to the beach with his wife and young son who keeps him busy and he makes the most out of New Zealand's outdoors by going spear fishing and free-diving during weekends.
Jimuel graduated from Eastern Visayas State University in the Philippines in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is a registered Civil Engineer in the Philippines, member of Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), an associate member of Institute of Engineers Singapore (IES) and a Member of Engineering New Zealand.
He has joined OBD in 2018, bringing more than 10 years of combined experience in structural design, field engineering site supervision and project management. Before that, he has worked on multiple projects in the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. His extensive experience ranges from simple residential projects to complex design of petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial structures and buildings.
In his spare time, Jimuel likes to go fishing and play basketball. He enjoys spending the weekends with his family visiting parks and exploring the beautiful beaches of Auckland.
Sunil completed his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering in 2009 from Tribhuvan University (Nepal) and his Master Degree in Structural Engineering in 2014 from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He is a registered Civil Engineer with the Nepal Engineering Council, Chartered Engineer of the Institute of Engineering India, and a Member of Engineering New Zealand - working towards his Chartered membership.
When he joined OBD in 2018, he already had more than five years of experience in Structural Engineering working on multiple complex projects based in Nepal, UK and Middle East. His expertise covers various types of analysis and design of residential and commercial buildings (primarily high-rise) - including concept, and detailed stage planning and management.
When not at work, Sunil likes to go swimming and play football with his friends. He loves spending time with his family and friends and exploring the local parks and beaches.
Ben is currently in his second year studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Auckland.
His work within the OBD team consists of internship type tasks, ranging from preparing reports and paperwork to structural monitoring out on the site. The practical experience and knowledge he is gaining within the industry is a great asset when it comes to his university studies.
In his spare time, when not studying, Ben likes to write and perform music at venues all across Auckland with his band. He is also an avid football fan and has been playing in competitive and social leagues for the best part of 15 years.
Originally from Italy, Francesca came to New Zealand 8 years ago and fell in love with this beautiful country.
She has a varied background, including a Master's Degree in Psychology and a Certification in Business Administration, and a strong passion for good food - which she loves to share with family and friends!
Francesca has been managing the administrative side of an Accounting company before coming to OBD Consultants, where she provides organizational support for the team of Engineers.
When not at work, Francesca loves to spend her time in the kitchen alongside her daughter, cooking and baking all sort of goodies! She also enjoys exploring the beautiful beaches and coastlines of New Zealand with the family, and practising yoga to relax.
Amisha has a background of administration within corporate and large charity organisations both in New Zealand and Ireland.
Amisha takes care of the accounts and payroll for OBD and whilst juggling a young family with their sports and activities, taking an active part in the local community, and working within the business part time, Amisha still finds time to spend in their extensive garden.
